If you haven’t had your head buried in the sand for the last 12 months, you may remember a certain PC game called Crysis. This game was meant to ignite PC gaming again and show the world that PC gaming is not dying breed. Crysis was known for having the best graphics ever, making even the most powerful PC’s weak at the knees. There was also an amazing game behind all the fancy graphics to boot, but all is not rosy. After disappointing sales on PC, not helped that by the fact you need a powerful PC to run it and PC piracy, Crytek has come out and said they will be no longer be PC exclusive.
Speaking to PC Play Magazine, Crytek President Cevat Yerli revealed that poor sales and piracy would be the reasons for the change in focus.
"We are suffering currently from the huge piracy that is encompassing Crysis," said Yerli. "We seem to lead the charts in piracy by a large margin, a chart leading that is not desirable. I believe that’s the core problem of PC Gaming, piracy. To the degree PC gamers that pirate games inherently destroy the platform."
Yerli continued: "Similar games on consoles sell factors of 4-5 more. It was a big lesson for us and I believe we won’t have PC exclusives as we did with Crysis in future. We are going to support PC, but not exclusive anymore."
This is not a confirmation that the monster that is Crysis will be coming to Consoles, but it is confirmation that any Crysis sequel and other Crytek games will be making an appearance on consoles in the near future.
