NCsoft uncovers new expansion for Lineage II.
Posted by Nick2728, 362 days ago Dec 14, 2007 14:22

NCsoft released information today concerning the release of the Kamael expansion of it’s Lineage II game. The new expansion, which is over one gigabyte in size, Kamael is easily the biggest expansion that has ever been released for the MMORPG title Lineage II as it adds a new playable race, areas to explore, continuous fortress battles, instanced dungeons, and all new account options which all contribute to the engrossing experience and gripping storyline of Lineage II.

The new race, called the Kamael, is the centerpoint of the new Lineage II expansion. Physically the Kamael are one-winged warriors who use dark magic which are separated into different combat talents depending on their gender. The warriors of the Kamael, who make their home on the Isle of Souls, all share the same desire to earn their second wings which will allow themselves to take on their ultimate form. In addition the fortress battles, which are seperate from the large castle attacks, are battles between and against smaller clans that allow these clans to obtain territory and increase the status of their clan both politically and militarily. In addition to the novice and middle tier players those with the characters at or above level seventy the game have two new zones from them to explore dubbed Hellbound and the Isle of Prayer. In addition other upgrades such as the ability to transfer characters between servers and to alter names and genders.

The Lineage II Kamael expansion also contains a number of newly created instance dungeons and an increased number of slots for items and more powerful weapons and armor that can be obtained in game. The new instanced dungeons come in two types: one type of dungeon can only be entered if there is a particular quest which involves that dungeon or ones that can only be entered after taking over a castle or fortress to gain admittance to the dungeon. Players of all levels will also have the capacity to record their moments of triumph by using the upgraded feature which allows players to store and playback, along with a variety of controls, their recorded footage.

Tim Tan,  the North American producer in charge of Lineage II, offered the comment that “The Kamael expansion is so epic that it is hard to pin down which feature is the most exciting” but added that “the new Kamael race is very unique and adds a new world of playability to the game. The new high-level lands will benefit our longtime players seeking harder challenges, while the new-player and soloing features will make getting to the heart of the game easier for more players. The sheer amount of content in this expansion is unbelievable and I really look forward to seeing the players’ response.”
